Cooperating partners

The International Partnerships in Ice Core Sciences (IPICS) has identified the recovery of old ice (up to 1.5 Ma) as a priority for the international ice core community. As a result, a number of national agencies and researchers are interested in this target. So far, such interest has mainly taken the form of participation in the scoping work (looking at the technical requirements for such an “Oldest Ice” core), and geophysical survey work, notably through airborne radar (USA, Australia) and ground-based work (Japan, China) at different parts of the Antarctic ice sheet.
