Today, the whole BEOI team is finally together at Little Dome C. They have been transported with the Arctic truck and the Pisten Bully (PB 300). We also took advantage of this traverse to transport the first 30 ice core boxes and more freight from Concordia to LDC.

What we did today at LDC:

  • we finished installing the horizontal saw, it is now operational;
  • we calibrated the DEP;
  • we finished fixing the main trench ventilation system;
  • we maintained and tested the “pig” (drill liquid recycler);
  • we sorted more boxes and moved the antitorque and the motor section into a warm place for further assembly and testing;
  • we stored the first 30 ice core boxes from Concordia in the underground storage container in LDC;
  • we setup an early version of the camp network;
  • and we celebrated the arrival of the whole BEOI at LDC.
