The two Pistenbullies went back to Concordia to pick up three drilling fluid IBCs, some empty ice core boxes and cargo. At LDC we finished to prepare the science/processing line, and are almost finished with setting up the drill.

What we did today at LDC:

  • we set up dual-tube snow sampler;
  • we finished to set up the packing area in the science trench;
  • we finished calibrating the DEP;
  • now the science trench is ready to process ice cores and we will start tomorrow;
  • we set up a new ventilation in the “pig”;
  • we are finished electrical connection between motor section the antitorque section;
  • we set up the whole outer tube and tested the motor section linked to the antitorque section, the cable and the drill driver;
  • we set up one hollow shaft, and a drill head is being prepared;
  • we plugged a temperature sensor to one of the communication cables between the recreation tent and processing cave.
