Weather at LDC 1 pm: sunny, T = -20.3°C, Wind = 4.2 m/s

We continue drilling in shift, getting again cores longer than 4 meters.

We also continued to clean and pack some stuff.

Processing is going well and another 9m have been analyzed and made ready for shipment to Europe.

What we did today at LDC:

  • drilling in shift;
  • processed 9 ice cores;
  • continued cleaning and packing;
  • setting up a permanent rescue solution for the drill trench.


End of day statistics at 18h00:

  • Driller’s depth: 1690.54 m;
  • we made 6 drilling runs between yesterday 19h30 and 18h today. The length of the cores was: 4.47, 4.5, 4.39, 4.48, 4.47 and 4.5 (driller length), for a total of 26.81 meters.
  • Logger’s depth:1690.53 m.
  • Current processing depth: 1636 m; daily total: 9 m; season total: 1312 m.
